Following the sales success of York House, Berkeley Homes is launching the next phase at One Tower Bridge, one of London’s landmark prime developments, located at the foot of iconic Tower Bridge.
Wessex House is a collection of 82 one, two and three-bedroom apartments including three penthouses in a ten storey residence, situated in the heart of the development.
Wessex House, one of the four buildings in the centre of the development, has been designed to create continuity with the recent arrivals to the South Bank such as nearby More London, featuring modern glass and metal-framed glazing to create light living spaces and maximise views.
Taking its place in one of the most vibrant parts of central London, One Tower Bridge is located on the River Thames between Tower Bridge and City Hall on the South Bank, close to the capital’s newest internationally-recognised showpiece, The Shard.
Designed by internationally respected architects Michael Squire and Partners, the 1.6 hectare site will provide 353 private apartments and penthouses, most with private balconies or roof spaces, across eight buildings. Built in four different architectural styles, each building varies in size and height, complementing the London skyline and taking full advantage of the views across the River Thames.
The interiors have been designed by Darling Associates, who have worked on some of the most prestigious central London developments including One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge and Embassy Court in St John’s Wood.
From the lobby to the individual apartments, Wessex House has the feel of a five-star hotel. Darling have designed elegant spaces sourcing the finest materials from across Europe with opulent Italian and French stone and timber complemented by bronze detailing.
The custom-designed Italian-style minimalist kitchens provide a backdrop for the open-plan living areas and look out onto the private balconies. There are two colour palettes available to prospective purchasers, allowing them to personalise their property.
Kate Moore, director of Darling Associates, comments: “Wessex House draws on our experience of creating elegant spaces within some of the most prestigious and exclusive developments in London. We have used natural, contemporary and classic materials to create traditional yet modern interiors.”
Residents at One Tower Bridge will have access to five star facilities including a boutique hotel, a 24 hour concierge managed by Harrods Estates, a gymnasium, a private health club with a swimming pool, a virtual golf facility, sauna, steam room and vitality pool and a residents-only business centre. One Tower Bridge will rank amongst the most luxurious of prime central London developments.
Each apartment has a remote access system, allowing residents to switch on the underfloor heating or air conditioning, as they disembark from a long haul flight. The technology hub enables the user to tailor the room to their mood and create pre-set profiles for example for a ‘movie night’ dimming the lights. The system also connects residents with the concierge to book taxis or deliver dry cleaning which has been collected on their behalf.
One Tower Bridge residents will live directly next door to Potters Fields Park, part of the Thames Walk, and will have access to this acclaimed public space, as well as a beautifully landscaped private courtyard garden.
Within the public realm of the development there are individually designed areas, one of which includes an innovative water clock fountain, with white vertical jets representing the 12 hour clock, surrounded by 48 LED colour-changing lights.
Residents will be able to choreograph their own water display using interactive floor pads to control the leaping jets of water. They will also be able to change the clock to reflect a specific time zone.
Situated in Zone 1, the development is a short walk from London Bridge station on the Northern and Jubilee line with services to Canary Wharf in 7 minutes and Bond Street in 9 minutes and with frequent rail services to Gatwick Airport. Tower Hill Underground Station is also close by, with District and Circle Line services, while there is also access to the Docklands Light Railway nearby. Tower Millennium Pier, St Katharine’s Pier and London Bridge City Pier are all within walking distance, with river boat services to the City, Westminster and Greenwich.
First completions at Wessex House are scheduled for 2016 with prices starting from £875,000.
A property exhibition will be held at East & West Rooms, 23/F, Mandarin Oriental, 5 Connaught Road, Central, Hong Kong on 19 & 20 January 2013 from 11am to 7pm.
