Knight Frank launches new riverside development in Peterborough, UK

22 January 2018

Developer Weston Homes has launched Fletton Quays, a new landmark waterside development in Peterborough. Offering a modern collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments, the scheme is located next to the River Nene on Peterborough’s South Bank, with views over the city’s historic Cathedral.

About the Property:

  • Consisting of 229 stylish apartments, a short walk from the centre of Peterborough.
  • The homes at Fletton Quays have been designed to the highest specification, including designer kitchens with quartz stone worktops, integrated Zanussi appliances and forest oak doors. Plus, private terraces or balconies to selected apartments mean residents can take advantage of the views of the city and river Nene.
  • Peterborough is a beautiful cathedral city in the heart of rural Cambridgeshire. With an abundance of restaurants, shops and excellent schools nearby, it is a desirable and affordable location for young professionals commuting into London. Residents in Peterborough can enjoy a mix of activities, from exploring heritage attractions to countryside walks through nature reserves and villages.
  • The city is also primed to benefit from the U.K. government’s plan to create an “Eastern Powerhouse” by devolving power to the region. In March 2017, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority was formed and became one of the first areas in the UK outside London to elect a mayor. As part of a devolution deal with the government, the combined authority will receive £770 million of new funding for local infrastructure and housing.
  • Prices at Fletton Quays start at £172,000.
  • The first homes are due for completion from October 2018 – December 2019.
Transportation:
  • Peterborough has excellent rail and transport links to London, being only 50 minutes into King’s Cross. A new Thameslink connection this year will also link the city with Gatwick and Luton Airports as well as St Pancreas International rail station.
  • Four major airports – London Stansted, London Luton, East Midlands and Birmingham International are all less than 90-minute drive away. The city is also within easy reach of York, Cambridge and Birmingham through road and rail links.

Logan Cordy, International Project Sales Associate at Knight Frank commented, “During the past three years, house prices in Peterborough have climbed by 24%, outperforming London and the UK. Despite this growth, the city still presents a clear price differential when compared with neighbouring locations - the average price of a home in Cambridge or Oxford, for example, is more than double that of Peterborough.
“Fletton Quays in a best in class development, unlike anything else currently on offer in Peterborough. With excellent transport links and huge planned investment for the region, this is an excellent opportunity to invest in a city on the rise.”

Peterborough also has a growing rental market with the number of rental agreements signed during the year through October 2017 climbing 75% compared with the same period in 2015.
